Lone Pine Creek never disappoints, and this trip was no exception. With Buck, Andrew, Ethan, and I heading out for a full day of fishing, we couldn’t have asked for better conditions. The morning air was crisp as we pulled up, the temperature hanging in the low 70s. By mid-afternoon, it climbed to a comfortable 94°F—hot, but manageable with a light breeze. The weather was exactly what we expected for this time of year: warm, dry, and calm, making it perfect for a day of shore fishing.

The creek was crystal clear, with just enough movement to keep the fish active but not so much that it would disturb our casts. We were well-prepared for shore fishing, and with wind speeds staying below 10 mph, we didn’t have to worry about any disruptions. The sun was out in full force, with nearly 12 hours of daylight ahead, giving us plenty of time to work the water and try out different spots along the creek.
For this trip, the gear we brought was key. I had my Daiwa Presso Ultralight Rod paired with the trusty Pflueger President 20 reel, a setup that never lets me down in these conditions. Andrew swore by the Kastmaster spoons, and they delivered, proving especially effective when the trout were feeding close to the surface. Ethan also put the Addicted Fishing Float System to good use, giving him the control needed to target those deeper pools along the banks. Together, we covered a lot of ground, each trying slightly different setups to see what the fish would go for.
As the day progressed, we landed a good number of trout, none larger than 14 inches but all strong fighters. Buck was the first to hook a nice 13-incher that took him right along the edge of a sand trap. Andrew followed up with a solid 12-inch rainbow, and I pulled in a couple around the same size. Ethan, as usual, waited for the right moment, managing to pull in a 14-inch beauty from one of the deeper pools just before we packed up for the day.
It was a productive day at Lone Pine Creek, with ideal conditions and great results. The sand traps were key to our success, and the gear we used was spot-on for these conditions.
