    Sacramento River Striper Run

8/10: The Sacramento River is buzzing with striper action. Bank anglers are scoring limits with anchovies, sardines, or live minnows, while boaters are trolling deep plugs or casting swimbaits. The topwater bite has been active during low light hours, adding extra excitement to the mix.

The weather has been overcast with calm conditions, making it ideal for both bank and boat fishing. With catfish also biting in deep holes, this is a great time to enjoy a variety of catches on the river.

Bass, Bluegill, and Deep-Water Trout at Del Valle

The bite at Del Valle has been lively with plenty of bass and bluegill action near the shorelines. Tossing small spinners or drop-shot rigs around submerged structures yielded consistent bites, making it a fun outing for all skill levels. For trout, we worked the cool, deep water by the dam with trolling setups and spoons. Weather was mild, with calm winds making conditions ideal for a full day on the water. While no monsters came to the net, we ended with a decent mix of panfish and a couple of solid rainbows to wrap things up.

    Folsom Lake Fishing Tips

8/10: Folsom Lake is producing strong results for bass anglers. Drop shots, shaky heads, and jigs on deep points are the go-to techniques, while topwater and jerkbaits offer exciting reaction bites. Trout fishing is picking up as the water cools—try soaking PowerBait or inflated worms near the dam or rocky coves.

The weather was crisp with a light breeze, ideal for covering a variety of techniques. Reports from the lake have been overwhelmingly positive, making it a great time to get out there.

    Diamond Valley Lake Update

6/10: Diamond Valley Lake proved challenging this week, but early mornings brought some action. Bass were hitting drop shots and Texas rigs, with the best results near submerged structures. Timing was key—getting out before the sun climbed too high made all the difference.

The weather was cool and clear at sunrise, perfect for a quiet start on the water. While the bite wasn’t constant, the moments of success made the effort worthwhile.

    Berkeley Crabbing & Rockfish

    Bodega Bay Crabbing

9/10: Bodega Bay has been on fire for crabbing and rockfish. Anglers on party boats are limiting out, with heavy scent and glow baits doing the trick for rockfish. The crabbing action remains excellent, with full pots being the norm.

The weather was mild with calm seas, making it easy to enjoy a productive day. If you’re looking for consistent action, now’s the time to hit the bay.

    San Diego & Mission Bay

6/10: It was a challenging but rewarding morning across San Diego and Mission Bays. Harbor Island gave up two lizardfish, one carrying a parasite, while a single spotted bay bass came from Mission Bay’s South Jetty. Santa Clara offered a mix of missed bites and one more lizardfish, with Texas rigs struggling against heavy grass.

The weather was clear with mild wind, making for a relaxing day despite slow action. While the numbers weren’t impressive, the time on the water brought great practice and some interesting catches. Patience and adjustments will be key for next time.

    San Diego Bay Recap

7/10: A windy day on San Diego Bay turned into a fun and productive outing. In just three hours, we caught nine fish across five species, including Spotted Bay Bass, Sand Bass, halibut, barracuda, and mackerel. Jigpara jigs and spins did most of the work, and the outgoing tide brought the best bites.

The weather was chilly with gusty winds, but good company and a productive spot made it all worthwhile. The highlight? A surprise halibut and a close call with a feisty barracuda. Sometimes, it’s the unplanned trips that leave the best memories.
