Dancin Fish Baits continue to produce solid results for anglers all across SoCal. The 3g size has been the go-to choice for finesse anglers targeting pressured trout in clear water conditions, delivering consistent bites with its subtle action and natural presentation.
Anglers timed the fresh trout stock perfectly at Yorba Regional Park in Yorba Linda and enjoyed wide open action on newly planted lightning and rainbow trout. The cool weather kept the fish active and aggressive as they explored the lake right after the stock truck unloaded. Most fish came on Magic Twisters dipped in Rusty Garlic scent to leave a strong trail the trout followed eagerly. Switching to red and green mini jigs kept the bite going strong while PowerBait produced little since the fresh stockers preferred chasing lures. Successful catches included a 6.5-pound lightning trout, a 3-pound lightning trout, and a 4-pound rainbow. Bigger fish remain in the lake as other anglers landed and released an 8-pounder and holdover trout from the school appeared even larger. The bite stays prime right after stocking with Thursdays the usual plant day. Check californiafishplants.com or the California Fish Plants Instagram for exact schedules to hit the next load and cash in on the hot action.
Captain Ben Mechling of Reel Addiction Sportfishing marked the final day of the 2025 season out of San Francisco Bay. The season concludes until mid-February, allowing time to appreciate the experiences shared on the water. Ben Mechling and Reel Addiction Sportfishing will be at the International Sportsmen’s Expo January 15-18, 2026, in Sacramento, CA. Make sure to swing by and get the show specials, only at the event.
What a way to wrap up the holiday season. On December 20, the Durasnare crew headed out to Lawsons Landing fully expecting a wet and windy slog with forecasts calling for an inch of rain and 10-20 mph gusts. Instead, they got treated to perfect conditions with flat calm water and barely a whisper of wind all day long. The group was out celebrating two birthdays, and the fish cooperated in a big way. First-timers on board got to experience back-to-back keepers and even some exciting simultaneous doubles. It turned into one of those memorable days on the water that everyone will be talking about for years. Looking ahead, Durasnare will be at the International Sportsmen’s Expo in Sacramento from January 15-18 with some exclusive show specials. Swing by the booth if you want to lock in legendary crabbing trips, poke poling adventures, or both at prices you won’t see again.
